Aguas Zarcas Hammer part 3

Bringing it home

Brayan Araya, a local who served as our guide and driver, first showed us the building on our second day when we happened to pass it and pointed out the roof. We initially investigated and looked for fragments as we had seen a video posted on Facebook and wondered if perhaps this was the same building. We couldn't be sure and we found nothing but black dust which we could not ascertain was of meteoritic origin.

After passing the building multiple times on our trip we had noticed someone making repairs on another part of the building and asked them for more information which then lead us ultimately to Danny and acquiring the panel. We finally obtained it on the last night before our departure and then had the arduous task of getting back home. We initially thought of shipping it with DHS which we had heard was a reliable shipping method but at the last minute we opted for checking it as oversize luggage due to time constraints.

They had us pay for additional plastic wrapping to hide the images on the box we used because the box was for some type of industrial machine. So we did and after a short but nerve-racking wait at the oversize luggage pickup location we got our panel. And here is Ily back home in the Nashville, TN airport parking lot USA.

The last step was framing it for display. We have two display options for the main piece of the meteorite with the paint markings and metal labels describing each item as seen in detail below. The main option is a white block with a piece of the same material the panel is made from to sit the piece atop. The second option to mount the piece on the panel consists of a transparent membrane box of 100x100x75mm, not shown.

The end...
